Our Welcome Cafe serves free, fresh and nutritious lunches, cooked by volunteer Centre Members. Enjoy delicious dishes from Syria, Nigeria, Kurdistan, Albania, Mexico and beyond.

Join us for a free lunch:

  • Just turn up at 12.30 pm on Monday and Thursday. Everyone is welcome
  • You can eat in the centre or ask for a takeaway
  • If you are an experienced cook and you might like to join our Welcome Café team. Talk to Arsalan

We will be closed from 5 pm on Thursday, December 21, and we will reopen on Monday, January 8. A list of food provisions available during this period can be found below.

Who else can help?

There are other organisations in Calderdale that can help with food.

Happy Days – offers a free Community Cafe which is open to all on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 12.30 – 1.30 pm.

Happy Days Community Supermarket – allows you to visit once a week for £6 each time you shop. It’s open Wednesday to Saturday 10 am – 3 pm.

Halifax Community Fridge – located at Madni Mosque on Gibbet Street (HX1 5LE), their free food bank is open daily from 11 am – 12.30 pm. They also offer a hot meal in partnership with Jilani Kitchen at the same location on Thursdays, 30 minutes before sunset.

The Basement Recovery Project – offers a Breakfast Club, including hot meals, on Wednesday mornings from 10 am – 11.30 am for those who are socially excluded or homeless.

Halifax Homeless and Community Kitchen – operates every Sunday from 1 – 2.30 pm, at Halifax Bus Station, providing hot meals, drinks, hygiene packs, and food parcels completely free to anyone who needs them.
