Events and Trips

‘I was new to this country and was alone with no friends or family. We had a weekend away, cooking, singing and sleeping in the woods. I went down the mountain on ropes. I never had a trip like that before. We were multi-national but I felt so comfortable. It was beautiful days.’ Ameer

Where else can I go in Halifax?

There is a lot to see in Halifax. Here are a few great places you can visit locally, for free:

In Halifax

Wainhouse Tower

Shibden Park

The Piece Hall

People’s Park

Bankfield Museum

Manor Heath Park – Jungle Experience (£1 for everyone 3+ years)

Where else can I go in Calderdale?

Outside of Halifax, you’ll find more wonderful places to explore by bus, bike or train.

Elland

Brighouse

Hebden Bridge and Todmorden

  • Hebden Bridge is a lovely small town to look around or perhaps have a walk along the canals or up the hills. From Halifax the train takes 12 minutes and the bus takes 20 minutes. Both cost around £4 return for adults. Children under 5 travel for free.
  • Our good friends Together We Grow often organise trips in and around Todmorden.

Events and festivals across Calderdale

See Visit Calderdale’s website

Happy Valley Pride celebrates LGBTQIA+ life in Hebden Bridge with artists, events, and campaigns, culminating in a vibrant festival during the last week in July.

Yorkshire Integration Festival 2024 is a free family-friendly event, celebrating multi-culturalism and the incredible achievements of refugees and migrants in Yorkshire and Humber. This year’s Festival is at The Peace Hall in Halifax, on Saturday 21 September from 10 am – 6 pm. Don’t miss Little Amal, Hind and the Jaffa Cakes, and much more fun.
